Yep. It’s a letting go. A looking through the glass onion. And a realization that everywhere you go, there you are. I love the meme also.

A lot of shit gets piled onto us as we move through life… finding ourselves is more of an inner archaeological dig than a search for a missing person. Finding $10 in an old winter coat is always welcome though. 🙂

Ten bucks dissuaded you from looking for yourself? I wish I could let myself off that cheap. 🙂

Yep! If you want to “find” yourself, now you know where to look. Retirement provides much time for such pursuits. 🙂

Yes! It’s definitely a journey of rediscovery, rather than an act of magically ‘finding’ ourselves.

Great thoughts. As a teacher, I spent a fair amount of time trying to get the kids to unlearn things. As a traveler, I came to believe that removing yourself from the culture you grew up in helps a lot in finding out who you are. As a mom, I tried not to plant assumptions in my daughters’ minds: e.g. it was never “When you get married and have kids, . . . ” but “If you decide some day to get married or have kids, . . . ” I think such little things can make a huge difference.
