A SPRINGTIME RIDDLE

wind

WHO AM I?

If you’re ‘in’ me, you’ve vanished into thin air
Take me out of your sails and you’re going nowhere

Run like me in a race and you might finish first
A second me gives you an energy burst

You’re three sheets to me when you drink to excess
If you break me in public, you’d better confess

Throwing caution to me is considered unwise
If you’re twisting in me, you’ve been hung out to dry

A bag of me talks at great length but says naught
If you piss into me, you will surely be caught

An ill me is foreboding; stay out of my way
If I kick up a notch, I might lift your toupee

Still stumped by my riddle?  Oh, what could I be?
The answer, my friends, is blowing in me.

It took me 4 lines to ‘get it’….. once again, how very clever you are, Joan

I am scratching my head. Afraid to scratch to much lest I lose my remaining strands of hair:)

Love it! However, I must confess, I am now thinking about fart jokes. I. Am. So. Immature.

Thanks for finding me, Just Joan. I’ve been reading your older posts – my favorite so far is the Kidney Psalm – and am already looking forward to seeing more pop up in my Reader!

Thanks, 227. Are you a nurse, by chance? Found you through Bitter Ben, one of my favorites. I post on Sunday, a hodge-podge of poetry and stories. Enjoy the oldies while you await the new; I’ll be doing the same on your site. Until next time, JJ42

This was brilliant – you are a word artist yourself Joan. Look forward to reading more of your work. Chevvy.
